"No dogs allowed in Bali courtroom
Two Balinese musicians have been accused of insulting the Indonesian State with a song they sang at a charity concert for the victims of the Yogyakarta earthquake.
Offended by the lyrics, security police at the concert stormed the stage and arrested the entire band.
Apparently the police thought that the band was singing about them.
Words like dog, police and gangster were strung together and interpreted as offensive to the state.
In an effort to avoid going to jail for 18 months for insulting a State institution under article 207 of Indonesia's Criminal code, lead singer and guitarist., Ed Edy, offered to sing the song for the judges.
Calling someone a dog in Indonesia is a major insult and the singer wanted to show that the police had got it wrong
But the judges said no."
