Your idea on a van is perfect.
Relax, the drivers will not be fussed whether they take one or 6 people. There is no better way to see Bali and I reckon there is no cheaper way.
But...there is a big difference in the quality of driver and vehicle they have.
There was actually a Driver ranking posted on this site at one time and this was a really useful reference. I used the guy who was rated second and it was the best decision I ever made. Wayan was the difference between a good holiday and a memorable one. His English is more like his first language than second (which makes a huge difference when you spend the entire day with somebody), and his vehicle is beautifully comfortable...in fact it's only about a year old. Most importantly, Wayan is extremely trustworthy - you immediately feel comfortable with him. He has a wife and three fabulous kids, he loves rock music - especially Australian bands (he's actually been to Australia)he has the most incredible sense of humour. He will take you to parts of Bali that are simply breathtaking. Many many people on this forum have used Wayan for years, myself included. If you put the question up...has anyone used Wayan Merta? I'm sure you will be astounded at the response you receive. I have a zillion pics of wayan, his family, his vehicle and some of the really interesting places he has taken us over our many vistis to Bali - please feel free to email me for pics and contatct details on Wayan.
