Hi,
We just returned home from a holiday in Bali where we booked the flights & accomodation over the internet. It went perfectly & we saved money by avoiding a travel agent.
The airfares are easily arranged but I'd suggest you 'do your homework' on the accomodation though..
1).. Ensure the hotel you would like to stay at has it's own website & there is relevant info. & pics.
2).. Email them for a quote on the accomodation costs for your actual dates. Sometimes they can offer a better deal than their website or any of the hotel booking sites mention and/or you can ask them to add free breakfasts etc.
3).. Check this great forum for reviews of the hotel from returned travellers. As you will be booking your accom. blindly they will be your eyes & ears.
4).. The hotel will require a deposit & this would usually mean giving them your credit card details. I was nervous about doing that so we arranged to make an international money transfer from my bank to their bank. It was a bit of a hassle for me & the hotel so ensure the hotel if they are prepared to do it this way.
Hope this helps !
