my friend decided to get it at the start of the trip, he wasn't able to go into the night clubs because it stung so bad, he was also banished from swimming and had to stay out of the sun ( mind you the tat took up his whole back) i'd say a few days before coming home otherwise the flight home may get uncomfortable.
