12th-25th Sept
Been back 2 days, hate being back in cold, miserable, rainy Perth after a wonderful 2 weeks in sunny Bali. Just loved getting off the plane on first day soaking up the hot sun and swimming in the ocean off Legian beach. Already missing massages/cocktails/beautiful Bali sunsets, long walks along the beach/lovely food/warm weather/the Balinese people and of course the shopping! (No rain during whole trip)
Thanks to BTF for all my updated info, came in very handy as always! Booked flights through internet for first time and accommodation through Mida, very happy with her prices and efficient service.
HOTELS 4 nights MBR deluxe room, (very spacious)
9 nights Kartika Plaza - pool/garden room - beautiful! Great being able to walk straight out of room to pool area.
RESTAURANTS (did old favourites and some newies)
Lanai - Double Six area, lovely upstairs at lunchtime watching the crowds on beach
Queen's Tandoor (Indian) Seminyak - fantastic food
Zanzibar- great food as always
Il Cielo - (Italian) Tuban very nice meal and restaurant
Kin Khao (Thai) opposite Dynasty nice food (sit upstairs) tropical setting
Poppies - (2 meals here) good to see it so busy after last trip, very quiet. Need to book!
Indo National - Food okay, very cheap, had fun
Dynasty (Gracie Kelly's) typical Irish pub food, nothing to write home about!
Drops - Padma Street-highly recommended, beautifully presented food
Un's- lovely food and atmosphere, serenaded at table by 4 piece band, complimentary cocktail and small starter.
Kori's - fantastic meal beside pond and waterfall with resident turtle!
Kumala Pantai beachfront -for good coffees during the day
Hu'u - fantastic ambience, stopped by for a late night cocktail, will do dinner here next trip
LEATHER
• Another visit to Tommy's, Padma St. where we have been previously. Bought 3 bags on display and had one made. Great job!
• Mr Brown opposite Kartika Plaza had shoes made, have used this shop before, another good job. $50
SHOPPING
Did all the usual......
• dvd's, hired a dvd player from Sakura for our stay, 25,000 per night.
• Geneva- came out with a trolley full of Xmas decos - so cheap!
• Martha Tillar's from Supa Nova, can't wait to try
• Heaps of beads and necklaces, just seen same in our shops for over $10 each!
• Centro -bought tops, shoes, dresses
• Had pants copied at tailor's in Poppies 2
SPAS
• Melasti Spa - always a favourite
• Febris - opposite Dynasty (never been here before, however impressed - very clean, nice surroundings
• Tari -in BGH, minimalist surroundings
• Ambiente - (reflexology) Garlic Lane also in Legian St and near Matahari - enjoyed this treatment very much, went back 3 times!
ALCOHOL
Not a great deal of luck with margaritas, (my favourite cocktail) as most restaurants had run out of tequila. Small Bintangs back on menu, however lots of places were running very short (or run out!) of many imported spirits/liqueurs.
EXCHANGE RATE
7700 -7800 for whole trip at reliable places
BIMC
Needed to visit during stay. Very impressed with modern/clean facilities. International speaking doctors. Left hospital with typed up written report, bag of medicines/tablets. Very professional service, better than you would get here in OZ!!!!!!
WATER SPORTS
Got a great deal for parasailing, banana boats and jetskis. 135,000 for everything including transport, equivalent of less than $20AUD- bargain
All in all another great trip! Am suffering serious withdrawal symptoms, can someone please sneak me in their luggage for another trip, am willing to go ASAP!!!!!
