Book the shortest possible time that you can, where you fancy the most at whatever rates.
Use this to drop your stuff and use as a base for a couple of days.
Walk around and look at places, checking walk in prices as you go.
Make sure you take notes, or get them to write prices on biz card so you know where to go back to and what the deal offered was.
As Ron says, you may not get a great deal in todays climate, but you won't know till you roll up and ask.
Also....you will see what you are getting for your dollar.
