I've been back a week and spent 3 1/2 weeks there. I noticed that there are a lot of people in Bali but definitely the shopping through the day around Kuta and Legian doesn't seem to have picked up to what you'd expect - while at night, many restaurants are packed out.
What I did notice just based on the people I spoke to - which was basically Aussies and Kiwis - was that most are multiple return visitors rather than first timers. So a lot of these people have done many of the tours and much of the shopping before and are spending more time relaxing around the pool than heading out. So numbers are up, and restaurants are full at night, but during the day it definitely seemed quieter out on the streets.
Mind you, Tanah Lot was the busiest I've seen it in years but not all that many Aussies there.
