We just got back from Bali on the 15/9/7. We are from Perth and usually buy our spirits at BAli Airport but this time bought them from Perth because we were not sure of the proceedure in Bali. When we arrived at the airport this time we only bought cigs. While we were buying the cigs we asked the man what was the go with the spirits going back into australia. He said that if you were flying Qantas or Jet Star if you purchased spirits they would be taken off you at the last security check but if you were flying Garuda there would be no problem. The Duty Free shops at the airport do stock Bacardi and Jim Beam and yes you are right the spirits are cheaper there. Hope this answers your question
