You and your son obviously adore the sea so i'll also recommend dolphin watching too, but in the ocean rather than the ones in a swimming pool :)
Get to Lovina before dawn, hire a boat, and dolphin watch. It's very beautiful, as you would no doubt know, to be on the sea just before dawn watching the sun rise over Bali, and then the dolphin pods come in.
Other activities i have enjoyed and which i think are suitable for a 14yo, were horseriding along the beach, harley motorbike riding (as a pillion passenger), whitewater rafting, submarine dive, ocean rafting. The last was a particular favourite. Other than the dolphin watch, all the above were half day and one day tours, had transport and nice lunches included, so our only reponsibilty was to have a good time. Which we did. :)
