Husbands 50th birthday, had a wonderful day, started with hotel decorating breakfast table with flowers and in the shape of 50 at his seat then all the staff including management serenaded happy birthday with cake in hand, he was a little embarrased but was moved by their kindness, we stayed at Kuta Lagoon Resort our home away from Oz.We had a quiet day as most of the group had organised a day trip to Ubud and Elephant Park. Then dinner at my husbands favourite restaurant Purah Bali Indah (this was one of the first restaurants we frequented in the early 80's) I had pre organised a magnificient chocolate mouse cake from the Bali Deli, wow what can I say never been before could have spent a fortune fantastic variety. The cake cost 290,000 rupiah and was worth every rupiah just delicious.
Vist to our friends village Munti
Our friend/driver Scooby organised a bigger van to take 12 of us to one of our friends village, we were really looking forward to this and considered it such a honour, we headed off early firstly to Makro to purchase rice, noodles, cooking oil for his family. Lunched at Candi Dasa Kubu Bali beautiful setting, lovely meal then off to Amed and up to Munti, the van went as far as possible, then we had to hike up rocky steep hill, (forgot to wear joggers definately big mistake) unfortunately due to years of smoking I found the trek quite difficult and wonder how these poor people do this every time they require water!!! But I made it and met our friends family, saw the beautiful traditional house he had built, with panoramic views to the coast. He has worked so hard and is extremely proud of his achievements. The house had 3 bedrooms and 1 lounge only small but extremely beautiful with carved doors and decorative mouldings. They have a shed in which they cook, the grandfather sleeps and the chickens roost of a night (unfortunately I asked was it the toilet) luckily our friends saw humour in my ignorance. We only stayed for a short while had some great pictures taken then off home via Kintamani as per my brothers request as he had never been before (we have and vowed never to return, the hawkers there are quite fearce and have not changed over the past 20 odd years) We arrived about 6pm only a few hawkers around and they definately persistant to say the least hitting my sister in law in the face with a fan, so quick back into the van and return to Legian.
Graduation Fashion show
This was our bali daughters graduation, there were about 20 designers on show, this was at the sofitel seminyak. My first to a fashion show and 9 of us including my sons 24 and 21 attended as they consider it was their sister graduation. We thoroughly enjoyed the night and the designs were definately varied from casual beach ware to way way out there.
My Boys's DJ'ing at Bounty Hotel
Prior to our departure our sons had organised to play at double six nightclub unfortunately they had been let down by who we thought was their promoter, so they just partied on and went to quite a few clubs in the second week at the Bounty my enterprising son approached the resident dj and he invited them to play on our second last night. So after a delicious meal at Venue at the Moon off we went to The Bounty foam party to see our boys in action, the set started at 11pm so we thought about an hour, after 11/2 hours we had had enough so headed back to the hotel, this really topped off a already fantastic holiday for them. They were so happy with the boys they played until 4am and have been invited back to play when ever they return to Bali.
all for now
Bali is better than ever, definately recharged our batteries and still feeling in Bali mode (until work tomorrow)
