Sunday, the day of rest........not in Bali. Up at a reasonable hour and in a taxi to the Bali Bakery in Kuta. We really should have walked. Yeah, it would have taken us a day or two to get there and we might have lost a child or two on the way but after eating there we really should have made the effort.

Each day has been a culinary delight but I have to say the Bali Bakery was something special. It's the first time I've been searched before going into a bakery. Perhaps I should have asked for the pat down search.......he was cute. (I just threw that in to see if my wife would notice) In fact it's the first time I've ever been searched going into a bakery.

The security there is better than our hotel. You can't even take photos inside. But the food is awesome.

We had a selection of croissants, savoury rolls and chocolate croissants. Given each was less than 7000rph the prices were incredible. We bought a heap to bring back with us because our friends arrived this morning.

I knew they'd be shattered from the flight and Cass would be drunk (yeah threw that in for the wife again).....Funny thing, Cass pointed out that they didn't get the kids meal they requested on Garuda and then I realized we didn't either.

Glad we didn't fly to Phuket! Just saw the news. Poor buggars......

Went from brekky back to the hotel so the girls could have a swim and I went to the airport to meet the crew. They hardly recognized me because I blend in with the locals so much now......No really they walked within a metre or two before they saw me and I'm pretty hard to miss what with the purple hair (You'll all be looking for some fat guy with purple hair wandering Bali, won't you)

Back to the hotel, quick Indo lesson on the way. The word for quiet sounds remarkably like cow. What is it with me and cows this trip (we do live in the country back home).

Sepi (quiet) Sapi (cow). You can use that if you like.

Discovered the travel agent didn't book an extra bed for 7 year Thomas.....Did I mention my wife was the travel agent that made the booking. And Cass thought we liked her.......

That got sorted and we were off for a quick feed at Legends in Garlic Lane. Very quiet but the food was great. We all had the Club Sandwiches. Everything was really fresh and even Rosemary's Baby (number two child) and Chucky (Cass's son) ate their lunch......Geez I hope Cass doesn't read this. But read on and you'll see she probably agrees. Actually I thought Chucky was good today considering the flight.

Quick shop in Melasti Markets. There was absolutely no one there poor souls. We found some nice kids gear and ladies wear. Singlet 20000rph. Kids skirt 20000rph and ladies dresses 30000rph.
Walked down the road to the third shop from the end before Legian Street (two ladies run it and they bargain hard but then so does Cass. I'm such a push over compared to her)

Good quality men's board shorts for 50000rph and kids surf shirts for 30000rph.

Hopped in a taxi and thought we were being given the run around but it turns out it is much quicker to go around Legian Street to Tuban than to go straight there.

Jumped out at Dynasty or may have been pushed out because of my bad bahasa. I'm just waiting to get in a taxi only to have the driver say, 'You're THAT guy!'

Visited Ricki MARTIN at Elfie's store but they were at home eating because it's Ramadan and he's Muslim. I'm so glad my mother is atheist and a good socialist. (Really!)

We stopped in at Warung Warung near the Green Garden for a drink. They give you laminated cards with the prices for each of your drinks on them. The kids decided to play snap with them. Everyone got involved. I think we paid for everything in the end.

Walked to Discovery/Centro and stopped into the chemist there because Cass was managing her hang over (she had the flu and she'll kill me when she reads this)

My kids have discovered the Rotiboy which only sells one thing, coffee buns. They smell like coffee and according to the boss they taste like coffee. Is it child abuse to let a 4 year old eat coffee? 6500rph each and worth every cent to watch a toddler bouncing around like a pogo stick (POGO STICK....for those of you old enough tell you kids, those of you young enough ask your parents).

Oh yeah. 'Two Stars Toys and Music' in Discovery sells pool toys and goggles and they were cheaper than the shop next to the chemist. The goggles were 69000rph. They have Barbie and few other toys but didn't compare to Matahari.

Did I mention number one fell out of the pool? Who falls out of an in ground pool? Admittedly it is a whole foot off the ground. She gets that from her mother.

Now I've always said Perth has a great ratio of hot chicks and even here the ration of hot aussie chicks is pretty good but there was (hang on gotta make sure the wife isn't watching) a young lass at the hotel today and I swear she was from Brazil or Italy....Noice. (I did that just for the guys) Anyway, chances are she's Australian too.
Walked down to La Monde for dinner. Again quiet nice. We had the Bali Chicken Curry, Chicken with green peppers and sweet soy, chilli squid and two serves of Bolognese for the hungry horde. The food was good. Again not great but good. Honestly the food is good but we've always been spoilt in Perth with places like Maya in Freo and in the old days Chois Inn, Northbridge. Did you know they shut that down in respect for the owner and chef Mister CHOI, when he retired? Billy Lees behind the old Chois Inn building is great too.

Back to Bali. La Monde. The young bloke who seated us (and yes that is correct grammar) suggested the pina colarda......He would wouldn't he. The wife and her drunken mate ordered one each. Yeah we all know it would come out in a coconut but we didn't know it would be carved and decorated like a bird of paradise. Not a small bird of paradise, a massive, true to life, freakin huge bird of paradise. Needless to say no one else in the restaurant had one so we stood out.

The tables have paper on them. Went down stairs and bought some pencils for the kids. Good move. 4500rph for the pencils and a quiet dinner except when the pina colada and jet lag kicked in.

Breakfast tomorrow at Bread Talk again.........spewin......NOT!
