Need to remember that a foreigner can NEVER personally own freehold ( known as hak milik in Indonesian law ) despite what some agents and developers will tell you. A reasonable level of security is available with a well prepared lease but make sure it is your lawyer (notaris) that prepares the documents and not the seller's.
