Nico...excellent choice the Dancing Dragon. I had lunch there during my last trip this time last year. The tranquility of the place is something to behold and it awakens your senses to discover something truly beautiful whilst you find yourself reflecting on the pleasure of just living.
Apart from the couple who were in the pool, there was just me and Wayan having lunch and I found myself almost whispering to him so as not to shatter the magnificent peace. The view is absolutely pristine and it's a place where you can absorb the magic of Bali without the chaos of shoppers, watch-sellers and time-share sharks. In many regards this whole region is unspoilt and after spending a little time here I came a way with a new-found respect and appreciation for Bali.
I have been to Bali several times and decided that this trip I would only see places I had never been too before and experience aspects of Bali that I had not done so before. Amed and The Dancing Dragon was just one small part of ten days that were simply sensational. It is so easy to fall into a routine in Bali that includes previous favourites and then one comes away with a slightly disapponted sense that Bali has somehow lost something. But this trip was an sbsolute renaissance and I have Wayan to thank for that. Without doubt, Wayan Merta is one of the finest people I know on Bali and his ability to find just the right places to visit are what make the difference between a good holiday and something that is truly memorable. If you get the chance to vist the Dancing Dragon...then do so. I know you'll love it! Cheers - kevin
