Yes my bum is still sore. The beds at the All Seasons are quite comfy. Usually it takes me about 4 days to get into a rhythm but the beds here seem to suit me.
We had a bit of a sleep in and wandered out and caught a taxi to The Aussie Outback Pub just north of here. It was shut. Spewin.....They are renovating and there were people in there working so I imagine it'll be open next year when we visit. Not cynical, practical.
We wanted to shop at the other end of town anyway so we got the taxi driver to take us down to Febris. We ate across the road at Garis Garis which does a good brekky. Not huge servings but we graze like a mob of cows when we're here so smaller serves isn't a bad thing.
For two serves of pancakes (4) and honey for the kids, American Breakfast for the wife (which was pretty big), toast with bacon for me, fresh juice and milkshakes (milkshakes are a healthy way to start the day. They have calcium and.......stuff) it was 109000rph. I'm still walking so it must have been O.K.
We waddled out of there and crossed over the road to some markets almost directly opposite the Dynasty on Kartika Plaza Street. We walked into one shop and got chatting with the people and buggar me drunk, or sober, if they weren't the same people we bought a stack of things from last year. Only they had moved from one side of the street to the other. Funny thing was their baby boy kept walking off with our pram last year, same thing this year. Their shop is named after their son Alief and his name is Ricky MARTIN and his wife is Nora. I reckon they aren't their real names.
We bought shirts XXXL for 50000 and ladies collared shirts for 40000. They have some good quality gear and the kidswear is excellent.
Can you hire sherpas in Bali?
Walked all of about 20 metres when number one child (remember the horse freak) spotted some of the biggest, pinkest, gaudiest sunglasses you can imagine. They were Christian Dior rip offs. Number two child (Devils spawn. Right now my mother is saying, 'Don't call her that'. But she knows as well as we do what ‘that'child can be like) decided she wanted a pair too. Luckily she's got a big head, height to weight ratio. I had no idea what the prices were for glasses but we paid 50000 for the two pairs which seemed fair and didn't require much haggling so no doubt there's a couple more shop keepers in Bali with a picture of me and the word ‘SUCKER' written under it.
Wandered over to Centro again but just to use the aircon. By the way the dunnies at Garis are a 9 out of 10. The mozzies are a killer. Minus mozzies they'd be a 10/10.
Had a brew at the Black Canyon Coffee Shop which is the beach end ground floor of Centro. My mother would dig this place. Do 68 year old dutch women dig stuff? The coffee was great according the big boss. The kids had an assortment of completely non nutritious chips, icecreme and milkshakes (but we all know milkshakes are a breakfast staple) That was really cheap. Most things were around 10000rph each. Creature feature (Devils Spawn) recommends the Panda Icecreme. We have photos......the wife has only averaged 120 photos a day. If it stops moving long enough she'll take a picture.
We went upstairs to Centro and the big boss bought a couple of really nice tops. Really nice in my definition means inexpensive and flattering to the female figure. Well these were both so I was happy. They weren't name brand and certainly not rip offs. They were just like clothes you could get at Myer. I think they came to 100000rph each but they are obviously nicer than the things you get from the markets.
Into Matahari in Kuta Square (great aircon) and into the toy shop. Number two wanted some cat called Sarahfina and number one wanted My Littlest Pet shop but had to settle for a pack of three Barbie horses for 29000rph. She was devastated, NOT. Remember day two?
Jumped a taxi and I don't mean we rolled the driver, we hopped in a taxi and went back to the hotel for a swim and now we're about to head over to the Bali Cyber Café to hit the blokes up for some advice on the wireless network here at All Seasons which is giving me grief and to check our emails.
Is there a white slave trade in Bali. Wonder what we could get for number two. Does anyone else have to put goggles on their kids so you can wash their hair?
Sitting in the Bali Cyber Café. Had the Indian Korma 29000rph and some other Balinese Curry. Very nice. By the way if they serve the curry with yoghurt chances are it's hot. Ours was but we forgot the yoghurt sitting there in front of us. Silly buggars.
Just as a side note, the internet at All Seasons sucks. The Bali Cyber Cafe has great connection.
Boss number two, does not like the Balinese tradition of putting sugar in milk.
Weather great. Exchange rate 7600ish. I'm 1 kilo heavier and counting.
