Food & beer are very cheap in Bali, you can eat well for under $A10. Like to give you a tip, they like to ask you 'where are you from' that establishes your moneys worth, that's Ok, next question "how many times you come to Bali", don't say first time because then you will be easy pickins, say 5th or 6th time.
Don't buy on the first day, check out the prices, easy to talk to other tourists, whatever the price is, offer 1/3 then work up from there. Don't go too low though as they have to make a living, once you agree on a price, don't back out, it's considered very rude.
