Sorry for the delay getting this next installment out but as many of you know I came home very ill after picking up a parasite. Unfortunately over the last week I have had some secondary issues come up as a result which has knocked me around a fair bit. Hopefully back on the slow path to good health again.
Monday 20 August
This morning at 10 am my scooter was due to be redelivered to me. As I had got in so late/early I was hoping that they would be running on Bali time and be late. No unfortunately at 10 am on the dot reception rang me to let me know I needed to come and do the paperwork for the scooter. Ugghh. Dragged myself out of bed, threw on some clothes and headed to reception. As soon as I arrived they knew I was a bit worse for wear. Gave them all a good laugh anyway. Must have looked like crap.
Organised the scooter and headed straight back to bed for some much needed sleep. On the way back into my room I noticed that I had put the door sign up indicating I wanted my room serviced, I had meant to put up the do not disturb sign. Lucky for me they hadn't come in to service the room. Quickly changed that around so as not to be disturbed.
I was dead to the world when I was rudely awoken to the poolside music being put on full blast. My god what a shock. Who the hell plays music at this time? Didn't they know I was in need of as much beauty sleep as I could get? Was ready to jump out of bed and go on the rampage when I noticed it was 2 pm. Ooops. Dragged myself out of bed and into a nice warm shower. Must have stayed in too long as the entire bathroom was about an inch under water and was getting very close to spilling over into the room.
Got myself organised and headed over to Troppozone to catch up with the crew. Thankfully everyone was looking as bad as I was so fit right in. Just hung around there until 3.30 pm when I had Made pick me up and take me to Sanur for the Bali Sanur Rotary Club's weekly meeting.
This week there a few more Rotarians in attendance so we moved into the boardroom. The staff pumped the airconditioner up full blast. When I have hangover's my biggest problem is being cold from the inside out and not being able to get warm. Consequently I froze all the way through the meeting and could not wait to get out of there. Had a good meeting with the Rotarians and was dropped back to Kuta by one of them afterwards.
Headed back to the Troppozone to catch up with the crew again as we had arranged to go and grab some tea. Had a fairly early night as was exhausted from big night out. I don't go out much at home and definitely can't remember seeing 5 am in the morning for many years.
