I'm sitting at work looking at the operations centre for the Tsunami Warning System and its been a busy morning. The screens are showing a lot of seismic activity. Earthquakes can't be predicted but they can be classified as "tsunamigenic" ie capable of causing a tsunami. Rest assured the monitoring and warning systems are in place and they work.
