are based around "AVAILABILITY", and while Airlines may, at irregular intervals, make extra award seating available, if you seriously HAVE to be there by a particular date, then BOOK it, and PAY for it. You then have TWO bonuses, first, you get to where you need to go on the day required, secondly, you have some EXTRA points to use at a later date when deadlines are not so critical.
Ask yourself a simple question, "will I buy food out of my salary this week, or will I wait til I win lotto and really fill up the pantry?"
