Just back from one week at Besakih sanur. the wearher was perfect but a lttle cold for swimming in the pool, Great to see all our old friends at the hotel, some of them have recently retired and some of the restaurant staff are now working as cleaners. A bit of a staff reshuffle. The waves breaking on the reef were enormous and we watched in horror outside the spirit cafe as a Japanese wave paddler was caught in a rip and dragged out to sea, A balanese paddled out to rescue him but got caught himself, The had to get the rescue boat t go out and bring them back. He could so easily have drowned. I've never seen the surf so big at Sanur. we ategreat meals at the bonsi restaurant the spirit cafe , the Kamisami a nd the zoo Cafe. All great places to eat. Great breakfasts on the beach at the besakih.
We watched the total eclipse of a dark red moon from the Tan jung sari accompanied by a small jazz trio. memorable.
