After WWII most consumer items experted to Australian were of an inferior standard. So the "Jap Crap" slang was invented. My mother said she had a Japanese bladder after bearing three kids.
Now the Japanese quality is considered world class and many cheap mass produced items come from mainland China.
I'm guessing that the Chinese bladder saying is an extension of the above.
