Many folk come here and rush up to Ubud to see the "real Bali",they do not realise how much of this "culture" was introduced by Walter Spies and men of his ilk.
The Sanur Cultural Tour is a tad different. They never make it to Puputan Square. However they point out the site of the shipwreck that lead to the mass murder of the Badung Royal family in 1906.
The site of a more recent battle involving Australians is also mentioned to tourists.
Mama Dewi's is another important stopover, here one can see the battle scars of the women who have been involved in numerous skirmishes.
This is often followed by some traditional singing and dancing on the beach.(tourists are welcome to join in)
On our last trip Sleepy Ron was fascinated by the batik bedspreads. He closely examined one for a couple of hours. The Sanur Cultural Tour can really be a great experience.
