You can buy alcohol in Bali & bring it back to Australia.
It does not have to be duty free.
You are allowed 2.25 litres for each person over 18.

That said, with the new rules for liquids if you do buy in Bali (not duty free) then it will have to packed in your suitcase/checked in luggage and not in your carry on

Many people purchase alcohol here duty free before they go and then pick it up when they arrive back in Australia..
..or purchase it at duty free in Australia once they are off the plane.
