Last year we were booked to leave Bali on Qantas (their last flight from Bali)... the plane was delayed by several hours and we realised that we would miss our connection to Wellington from Sydney which would have left us waiting at Sydney airport all day. We were very dismayed and asked if we could be booked through Auckland or Chch, so that we would not have such a long wait, The ground staff assisted us by organising seats on the Garuda flight and we managed to arrive on time to connect with our Wellington flight.
We did not have to pay any extra in fees, and the Garuda people were particularly helpful to us.
