It isn't necessarily about you being vilgilant with regard to hygiene, rather the carrier.
Speak with a medical professional or TMVC and try to find out which Hep your friend has. Often easier said than done as he may not know himself. Vaccinations are really just another form of travel insurance. Why expose yourself to unnecessary risks when prevention is better than cure. cheers :-)
