I always take cash. If I run out I use the atm. I also take credit card and pay all hotel bills with it. I have a backup credit card this year, just to be safe. Don't forget to tell the bank that you are oseas, as they can cancel your cards if they see any unusual activity on it. Never taken travellers cheques, but they are the safest. If lost or stolen, they can be stopped. But you pay a fee to purchase them.
