Day 7 - Lazy day today compared to past 6 days, spent some time on the beach just chatting to people and of course having a few bintangs.
Went to Legends to meet with other formites, with a nice couple that we had met a couple of nights ago, Hi Lydia and Malcolm. We were about the first there I think. Kermy arrived and was a bit miffed as they hadn't set up the tables etc, so she soon organised the staff, lol. Others soon arrived, briefly met a nice couple from Mandurah and another couple who sat near us, Hi Uni and Hubby, ( sorry can't remember your name. Besides from these people we knew only Tina, most people seemed to stick to their own groups, so didn't get to meet anyone else until we were leaving then met a couple whose hubby is involved in the Bali Kids program, great job they do.
Off to Hulu's to catch the first show, I was suprised how small this place is, heaps of people were stood at the back when the show started, a good laugh and well worth seeing.
Day 8 - Today we were picked up for our day at the Taro Elephant Park.
Was a long drive but nice vehicle so no problem, we stopped to pick up a small group on the way.
First we fed the elephants and got pics if we wanted, them time for a ride, John and I are no light weights but it was decided that we were ok to go on together, we did have one of the biggest elephants though.
The trainer who rode on the elephants head was a mine of information and he told us all about his necessary training for the job. The elephant kept stopping to pull a branch off to nibble on as we went, it was great fun, the ride lasted for about 20mins and ended after the elephant had done a lap of the pool.
The ride was followed by the show, which was ok, but if you have seen an elephant show then they are all much the same.
Buffet lunch next, I was not expecting much of this but was pleasantly surprised as the lunch was actually delicious, soup to start if you wished, salads, about 5 choices of hot dishes, including chicken curry, sates, beef goulash and there were some great choices of dessert too, all very yum. After lunch there was time for a stroll around and of course photo's had been taken which you could purchase, but reasonably priced at $6 US for a large one or 4 small ones.
A great day all in all, I had booked it on the internet before we left and cost was $61 US, but others had paid $68, so we had saved a few dollars. Got back to hotel about 3.30pm so time for a rest before heading out for dinner.
Ate at Bali Agung in Poppies 1, given cold towel and free arak attack upon arrival, which is always a good start. We both had the special for the night which was Nasi Campur, rice surrounded by about 6 small serves of different dishes, was very good and cheap, 50.000 rup I think.
One more part to come then I am finished.
Cheers
maureen
