Today and the next day are holidays in Bali, their xmas day etc, so most of the shops are shut. It was rainy lightly and I knew I should be disappointed as I thought as shops shut I would spend today working on my tan, something I never usually do as i love running about bali and making discovers too much. Knew I would have to get a chair early as the hotel is packed and I was sure everyone would have the same idea.
But as I said it was raining so I had to find something else to do.. We went to dvd shp on JL Padma (cant find card at moment think called jimmys) They were open, have lots of playstation2 games. Got 170 dvds pay for 100 (1 million rp) Get 70 free. Most shops have this deal. Sis had bought 10 the day before and tried a few and they worked so we thought they would be ok, if not they said bring back and they exchange.
Went to lovely modern bar and had tropical moon n bintangs ( Nero Bali) only trouble was working out which toilet was which! Never good at symbols and they had symbol or men and women on toilet You know circles with a cross or arrow on it. So I guessed and was wrong. Hee hee, silly me.... I suppose they now do this as many tourists now not Aussies Koreans or Japanese.
Note: Womens toilet has circle with cross.
Went to Body and Soul outlet for sale items, don't usually look here as they r usually too dear and rather buy from markets. Most sizes too little 4 me. Did get layered top reduced from 160,000rp to 40,000, happy with that. Tried on lovely tulle looking long skirt but sis not impressed with how it looked and I have no idea where I could wear it ( was 60,000rp). Well worth a look if you r up that way.
In another post I said Paddy was chopped in half and disco on chopped side, went past in taxi and don't think im right, think its just darker now with disco next door will have to investigate soon...
Had yummy lunch at Senoke bar and restaurant always go there and pizza yummy, had rending beef as wanted to try something different was ok, but the one time I don't get sate people behind us got it and came on little bbq thingy will go back another day and get it there. Sis had sweet & sour chicken it came in batter and v nice, her hubby got an indo steak dish with garlic butter v nice but I think steak looked like fried slices of Chum (dog tin food) he say yummy try, me not game and say enjoy.....
Ive been learning indo at home and for second time tried it out, 'Di mana kamar kecil' (where is the toilet) for joy they knew what I said and showed me the way. Had a coffee liquor with milk any of the tropical moons and stuff with milk over here seem to have little alcohol content in them so I topped it off with a glass of wine, now can feel alcohol..
After lunch tried to get old westerns dvds (anyone know where u can get clint eastwood, john wayne movies in bali?) They couldn't understand what we meant by old movies and kept showing up last years movies, so me game with wine inside me told lady 1950s movies in Indonesian. Well she smiled widely and said no and them a few more sentence which I wisely nodded at smiling and saying ya ya. Probably shouldn't ask questions in indo as they answer in indo. I learnt how to say 'Ican only speak a lillte Indonesian' but now cant remember how, anyone help me pls.....What is it? 'saya sanget sedikat bahsa Indonesian' or something like that?
Got straw hat with shells on it for 20,000 (found some later with shells on 3 sides so check if you want this) 3 Ford shirts for 70,000 each, Bali no.3 bag for plane 30,000, cds from bloke in bar 13 for 100,000rp pay for 10, 3 extra free.
Not sure if I said shoes bought yesterday leather - 35,000, leather thongs with leather flowers 35,000, good material thongs with beads 25,000.
Found the yummiest icecream green with coconut through it beautiful called; Es Puter - Hula - Kelapa Hijau. Its in a little cup u get wooden spade to eat with, bought supermarket only legion beach, so yummy when back and bought all other flavours. Bad idea others yak, worst though was one whos picture looked like it had honeycomb through it, it wasn't honeycomb, I was picking bits of corn out from my teeth for ages..yuk, yuk yuk, don't think I will be able to eat corn or one of those yummy ice creams for a while now.
Caught taxi back to hotel after lunch. We were asking driver what name of holiday was so we could wish Balinese 'happy xmas' or whatever he didn't understand and was talking about December. So me still under wine influence tried to ask in indo about 'Hari ini' todays holiday, same thing off he went all happy in indo I had no idea what he was saying Sis and hubby trying not to laugh as I nodded all knowledgeable and they knew I didn't have a clue. Oh well it was fun and made driver happy. Whats the word for tomorrow?
Got in room service for dinner ala melasti pizza nice but could only eat 2 pieces. Seem to get so hungry here and yet be able to eat so little.
Another lovely day in paradise, going to see if shops near kartiks plaza are open tomorrow and do some shopping, get some glasses. Until then hope aussie weather little better....
