Have just returned home (11pm) from hospital and I am sorry to say but the news is bleak. Kerry underwent 4 hrs of surgery last week but unfortunately the brain tumour could not be completely removed because of its aggressivness. Today we learnt that the tumour is an incurable, malignant type that invades the brain. Radium and chemo treatment is to be attempted. Kerry turned 48 last month on our last visit to Bali. She was ill while in Bali but we never expected this.
Unfortunately Kerry has been told that international travel is no longer possible and deeply saddened of the thought of not being able to visit Bali - the love of her heart.
The Balitravel Forum has been an enormous help to us over the years as we built our Balinese Retreat on the Sunshine Coast thanks to all the tips provided by the forum. We were about to start building new thatched villas and the containers of alang-alang have already arrived. The future now is very uncertain.
If any forumites are currently in Bali or are about to arrive I would appreciate if they could pass on to a couple of people that Kerry is seriously ill. Those being Susie & Sammie at S&S and a young waitress called Ketut (who looks after us on every visit) at Goshas Restaurant in Jl Melesti. We shouted Ketut to a breakfast with us at La Luciola last month and she was so appreciative.
I would like to thank the many forumites who have sent their best wishes and prayers to Kerry. I cut and pasted them all into one file and she has them by her beside. Kerry read the forum very often and was always taking notes on how she could vary our next trip.
Many thanks again to the Bali Travel Forum and I will try and update on any changes. Ken
