Not Bali, but couldn't resist posting this one from today's Australian E-Travel Blackboard.

I remember that there have been some heated debates on this forum about the "dilemna of the reclining seats" but this sure takes it to the ultimate climax!!

Mile high brawl over reclining seat
27/06/2007
An emergency landing was made after a fight erupted between two passengers on a British Airways Boeing 747 after a passenger reclined his seat.

The clash between two men broke out on the flight from Lagos, Nigeria just an hour before the plane was due to land in Heathrow prompting the pilot to alert air traffic control and jumped the queue to make an emergency landing at Heathrow.

When the passenger refused to put the seat back up after the man sitting behind complained, he got up and hit him.

Twenty passengers were soon caught up in between the crossfire which saw fists, bottles and belts used. One even tried to gain entry into first class to grab a knife. A stewardess received wounds to her head as she tried to mediate the brawl.

Eventually, the crew were able to detain and handcuff the two men with the police on boarding the plane after landing and doctors examining the injured stewardess and a male passenger.

British Airways spokesperson said that the altercation developed between two men when one reclined his seat with both men banned from flying with British Airways.

"Staff and passengers tried to break up the fight and a passenger received a cut to the head,' the spokesman said.

Upon landing, the police arrested the two men who now have been charged with affray. They were remanded in custody after appearing in court while British Airways staffs involved in the brawl have been offered counselling.
