I get sick of the ridiculous prices asked and just walk. I know a lot of people will say its the fun of negotiation, but the sellers read me so wrong, if they were not being so smart/funny I would buy a lot more from them, and I do so with those that start at a reasonable level. If a t-shirt is worth say 20,000rp and they start at 300,000 I walk, no ifs or buts. If they start at 60,000, I will enter into negotiations.
If its offered at 60,000 and they ask my price I will say "gratis" (nothing). Then you get the hurt voice look from them saying why gratis? and I say why 60,000? and away we go.
Look at how they negotiate, its to the N th rupiah. I do the same. And before you beat me up I also will give a bit extra or buy more off them and they will get my repeat custom.
But my point is I get bl00dy sick of the greed and guilt trips they try and lay on me at times. I understand fully why the fixed price shops do so well. This will be my 13/14th trip in August, and you know Im just too tired to dick around too long with some idjit that agrees to a price, then changes their mind and lets you walk, then agrees yes, yes alrite, then when you return changes his mind again etc etc etc. Right I will take my medicine now and get off my soapbox
Happy negotiations Ianz
