To-day, the day before Galungan is known as "Penampahan" or throat-slitting day, when all the above-mentioned are to be slaughtered for to-morrow's festivities GALUNGAN. However, the devout Balinese say a prayer for each Piggie that he may come back in the next life as an elephant or some such.

Nothing of the Piggy is wasted; sausages, lawar and various dishes are made up including Tum, which is a Pork Mince sate cooked on a lemon gass stalk; it is said that in some villages, a wide-mouthed jar is used to catch the squeals which are later opened to frighten off the birds in the rice-fields. Hmm! Wud Oi Lie?

Over-cast and rain threatened.
