Day4. On our way back to kuta we called in at Crackers Bar, how could we not after hearing all the great things about the loo's, I was suitably impressed and of course used them. The place was empty, we had a couple of bintangs and then went for a wander around the markets, I bought a white top and matching pants, just the elasticated pull ups which were a nice big size for me.
Said goodbye to Made, who was a brilliant driver, informative, reliable and unobtrusive, and checked into the Inna Kuta Beach Hotel. Wow, I loved our bungalow, it was recommended on here by Beast, thanks Mate!
No 418, right at the front of beach and side of pool, lovely balcony, good sized room with 3 movie channels, and other channels, tea and coffee making. Nice bathroom with soaps, toothbrushes etc provided each day. I did my usual trick and saved them to give to the beach ladies when we left as we had taken our own toiletries. Only thing I didn't like much was single beds, huge king singles. I asked our room person to put them together, thinking that they would put together and use bigger bedding to make up a king bed, but when we went back they had just pushed them side by side, haha. Anyway this didn't work as it meant one of us had to crawl up the bed as there was no room as one was against the wall, so we just laughed about it and changed them back ourselves. All in all couldn't have wished for a better hotel and beach location.
They have a great pool, was huge and heaps of pool loungers and even a sign telling guests that if towels left on loungers more than 30mins unused they would be available for other guests. I was impressed with that as my pet hate is those ignorant pool lounge hoggers. I never saw more than 6 loungers being used the whole 7 days that we were there.
After a dip in the pool and a cocktail we hit the beach and got to know some of the people working there.
We told them that we had spectacles and bra's and after having my nails painted I got some of them from the room and we managed to find quite a few suitable people to give to, mostly the older ladies working there. There was one lovely aged lady who had only one eye, she was wearing just a pair of old, ordinary sunglasses when we met her, after going through lots of specs she found one pair that suited her sight well. Every day after that we saw her wearing them as did most of the people who got some. The bra's went down well too, people here had given us a whole bag full, so lots of ladies were uplifted, haha, all had smiles when we finished. There was approx 25 pairs of glasses and maybe 50 pairs of bra's, we limited it to one pair of specs per person and 2 bra's each so that we could spread the freebies around as much as possible.
Met our friend in the lobby who brought us a dvd to hire and dvd's, hire was approx $14 au for the week. I must say though that if we had realised how good the movies channels in the hotel were then we would probably not have bothered.
Dinner was at Dayu 1 on Benasari st, lovely meal and cheap.
Day 5 Went to pick up coloured contacts from Optic Seis, I'll have some fun with those.
Feet up on bed and watched a movie then off to poppies to look at AFL shop, got the 3 boys t.shirts, Eagles and Dockers of course. Quite good, the colours were ok on the polo type shirts. They had quite a bit of AFL merchandise but we had already bought stubby holder at Ketuts so we made do with T.shirts.
Dinner at Fook-in Pub, nice place, lovely staff and good atmosphere but unfortunately we were disappointed with our meals, I was hanging out for some pie and mash, but when it came it was powder mash and seemed like tinned meat in the guiness pie, shame ! However other type meals may have been really good.
Early night as another big day tomorrow when we visit orphanage at Gianyar and Ubud.
Cheers Maureen
