Hi everyone. I have been reading this forum for a few years and never felt the need to post before. I recently got back from 3 weeks in Bali.
We flew with Qantas out of Perth. Before we even got to the plane we were at the "Tourist Refund Scheme" counter to claim back the GST on a watch that we had bought. There was a bit of a line (4 different groups in front of us). We thought we would have a bit of a wait, but to our amazement, the people infront of us didnt have all the things that you need to claim the refund. You need, 1 - a tax invoice that states what you bought within the last 30 days, 2 - your passport/boarding pass and 3 - the item that you are claiming for. Its not that hard, but all the groups infront of us didnt have all 3 prerequisites for claiming the GST back. Even though there was a lot of whinging from these other travellers, we eventually got through quickly because we had all the correct items with us.
Through to the qantas club and we enjoyed some pre flight drinks and struck up a conversation with some fellow travellers.
We had a very enjoyable flight and were quickly through the other end and into the crowds of taxis and drivers. We got our own driver very quickly and were on our way to the motel.
The Sari Beach was a lovely hotel, nice, small, good breakfast. I would definately stay there again. We did a "walk up" and got a great rate.
As I have said previously, I have been reading this forum for a while so I had noted down the names of restaurants much touted here.
Unfortunately many left me cold!
We ate the Indonational and we were very sick later that night. We went to the Poco Loco (for the big Margaritas) and found them to be decidely average. We loved Yutz. We watched the football at the Rainbow Bar in Poppies 2 and Rickis just outside the niksoma....superb both!
Zanzibar was good, but not as good as I remember. Lanai was great, Kumala Pantai was great.
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday, just wandered around and looked and had some good family holiday time.
We did watersports at Tanjung Benoa, did a trip to the coffee plantation, sukawati markets, ubud, monkey forest.
Went to dreamland, had a swim and a drink.
I will be going again in September.
