Make sure you contact Garuda about your additional nights accommodation - they offered to reimburse us the cost of the extra night. We had to provide the original e-ticket and then a receipt confirming the cost of the extra night. However, this is ONLY if you have paid for your ticket in full prior to the flight change.
I went into the Garuda (Perth)office yesterday, as they had done the same to us - we were booked to come home on Aug 26th (Sun) on the 12:35pm flight and they rebooked us on the 1:30am flight on the 27th also a Monday. When I phoned to say my husband needs to fly back to work on that day, they just said "sorry, the flight you want is fully booked.....". Anyway, we finally got on the Sunday morning fligh after a few phone calls and me going into the office. The girls there said that because of the amount of phone calls coming in about the schedule change, they are unable to get lines out to contact all the passengers about the scheduling change!!!!
