Doesnt seem to be much point in giving an opinion...people will do what they want and will always justify their own decisions BUT... may I give my experience.
The hotel we recently stayed at had a sign displayed which read..."For the comfort and safety of all guests, please do not use bee bee guns in this hotel" Obviously they had experienced problems and/or complaints.
When my two teenage sons arrived back at the hotel excited about the great deal they got on 2 bb guns, I wasn't as excited. Actually I was disappointed that they would just disregard the request by the hotel. Consequently, they did not use them.
They shared a greater disappointment than I, when they had to surrender them at the first xray point at Denpasar. And yes, there are signs indicating so.
When we arrived back in Sydney with nothing to declare, the officer asked "No Bee Bee guns?" When we said no, he repeated the question, probably astonished that such an appealing item would not be at the top of their shopping list. In harmony, both boys grumbled "Mum gave them up in Denpasar." The officer said "Well boys, if they hadn't been given up there, you would have lost them here."
And the moral to this story??? (Apart from wasting your money)
One could safely assume that there must be a valid reason if one hotel and two countries are anti-bb gun!!!!
