Flew from Perth to Denpasar on GA. 24th of April. Pretty uneventful trip however was very bumpy being 4 months pregnant and suffering terrible morning sickness it didn't help matters hehehe. I have to say after roughly 10 trips in 4 years this was the best as far as paying for VOA and being out in a cab within about 20 minutes. I was traveling economy mind you and was seated at the back of the plane I have no idea how I managed it but doubt it will happen again!!
I traveled alone and stayed the first 7 nights at the Camplung Mas. I found this hotel to be pretty good value for money friendly staff and a nice breakfast. Only thing I could moan about was when it did rain the street flooded so easily you needed a canoe to get around. I was comparing baby bumps with Yasmin although it took some convincing that I was in fact pregnant and hadn't had too much bintang!! I think the traveling alone and unmarried didn't help my case. I also felt so bad that I offended the chef after being unable to finish my eggs one morning (stomach too dodgy ) all I would order was toast for the rest of the week he wasn't impressed haahaa.
I then stayed with a friend for a week in Kerobokan, and then checked into the Samsara Hotel with my parents who arrived two weeks into my trip. WOW I can not say enough nice things about this property it was fantastic stayed here two weeks. The beds and doonas were amazing the a/c is fantastic the staff were lovely really great property in a fantastic location.
Highlight of the trip for me was going to Amed for the first time. We went snorkeling on the Japanese war ship which is great fun and had a bonfire on the beach that night and cooked fish we bought of a local fisherman for 2000 each!!! on the way back to Kuta stopped at a Hindu water temple were you can go swimming but the water was FREEZING so I chickened out of being ‘cleansed'.
Had the pleasure of meeting smudge at S&S by accident. He lived in the same place in England as I was born small world. Very funny I didn't know who he was and carefully asked if the children and the lovely indo lady were his family (wife and kids) no he said I'm a horrible old man and she is a beautiful young girl why would she marry me he said hehehehe well you don't know do you I thought I was being polite. What a fantastic man what a world we would live in if more of us were like him.
Have to say that it was my first trip to Bali where I couldn't drink or smoke and it made it a very difficult place to resist temptation. But in all had a great time.
Flight home was first time for me that we got a group of grumpy air hostess's they were not happy Jan!
Going back on the 18th of June one week today and CAN NOT WAIT.
