Everything is starting to settle down now and some are getting worried about how much they will be over at the airport and wanting to stay longer. I don't name restaurants as most people will eat where they want and have their favorites. We ate at the Ramayana one night and just watching the people go by is good but it would have to be one of the worst meals we had over three weeks.
One place we did enjoy was Dewi Sari Seafood down towards Tuban. Of all the trips to Bali we have never eaten there. We will go back again next Oct. One thing happen there was quite funny. We had ordered and a bus load of Taiwan people arrived to eat in the back room. This room must be set up for a lot of people to go to from tour companies.
Well as I was talking to Maggie I could see the tour driver sitting at his table eating when all of a sudden a rat ran across the room under his seat and he also saw it and jumped back hitting the chair behind him when the girl was about to eat and scared her so much she knocked over her drink.
This girl was Australian and did not mind so much but the Taiwanese bus driver was trying to tell the girl about the rat and she could not understand him until I got my daughter in law to tell him the girl was not worried about it. The trouble is I told my daughter in law about the rat and she wanted to leave because it might come back and the place must be dirty. I knew I should not have said anything as my wife kicked me under the table very hard. I tried to explain that we were not eating rat we were eating seafood and the taste is different and this caused another kick under the table. I told Maggie if any food was left over it was for the rat and another good kick. Maggie was not impressed but we stayed and the food was great.
Our daughter in law is really a great girl and one of the most understanding people I know. We all get along very well even though her culture is different. I got into trouble one night for pointing at the full moon from the granddaughter and asked why and was told Mom said you cannot point at the moon or it brings you bad luck, don't leave the toilet seat top up or your money goes down the drain and if you visit someone in the hospital bring home three leaves from a tree for their health to recover. That is her way of life and my wife and I respect it because she is not over the top with it and we love her very much.
Tuesday before we left I said it was a boy's day out and the girls can do what they want. I thought we would go and see some friends on the beach, then S&S, Bali Aussie and anywhere else we want to stop. OK we were having a cold beer at Bali Aussie when my phone rang and it was my wife. I thought something was wrong and it was. She said going down Garlic lane there is a shop up a lane way that my wife forgot the name of and wanted me to pick up something she had made. There you go having a cold drink and doing the shopping at the same time. Bob went to look for the shop while Mark and I finished the drinks when I thought maybe it was not a good idea to let Bob go on his own in case he gets lost. So we decide to go and look for him. You can go behind the Markets and come out on Garlic lane which we did and I guess Bob must have walked to the corner and around to get onto Garlic lane. We missed each other so Mark and I decided to wait at the bar next to where the lane was supposed to be for Bob to come back.
One hour later we better go back to Bali Aussie to look for Bob the back way not thinking he did not know this way. Got back to Bali Aussie and here were the girls without Bob. Pam wanted to know where Bob was and I said I don't know. Pam said you know where he is and that is at the massage place I took him to before and boy was I in trouble now. All of us went looking for Bob and found him at Uncle Norm's waiting for us. Now this is some three hours later because he could not find us because he went one way we were going the other. So we all had a beer and were then asked where were the goods we had to pick up. The three boys looked at each other and almost at the same time said we could not find the shop (not that we looked very hard) and was told there is the shop right across the street. Of course we said you told us down a lane way not on the street and we looked very hard for, no I said across from a lane way ok but we did not know which lane way just trying to get of trouble here. This was supposed to be a boy's day out not the start of another shopping evening. I think some of you ladies try to keep tabs on us men just be sure where we are.
The next day it off to the beach to say our good buy's and photos as everyone wanted to say goodbye to the granddaughters and not worried to much about us, I think. All said and done back to have a swim as the shade was over the pool and girls could swim without me or Bob getting into trouble.
OK as you know I have warned everyone not to over buy as you do on your first trip and in this case my wife on her 15th trip we will have to pay extra. Ladies why is it that you ask us men how much money is left and when we ask you why you say just in case I see something I need, yeah right you have done this for the last 21 days so what can be new?
My wife and Pam's answer was just in case we see something on the way to the airport. I say it is nine o'clock at night how can you see anything and they just let us look OK.
The trip was really great as most are to Bali for us. Having two new persons with us and for the last two weeks our second son and family we really had a great so much that our five year old granddaughter wants to come back with us next trip and if her mother lets her she can come with us. Bob and Pam now want to come as well and I have been told they said it was the best trip they have had. The flight home was also good and the one to the Gold Coast with Virgin also good. Only one problem on the way from the international terminal to the domestic I (they blamed me) lost the box that had the two lamp shades in it and did not know it until just before we got on the plane. I thought this was strange for me to be blames as I never was in charge of the box but who cares I was the best one to blame or so it seems.
I think I was in the Bali mode when I went to by 6 Krispy Kreme glazed donuts at the airport and the lady said $13.95 and I think she was surprised when I said what are you sure? Yes but you can buy a dozen for just another $4. I said no thank you and asked for two and she said that will be $4.50 and I was too embarrassed to say no and realized I was back to reality.
