Happened to me in Bali also. I was warned by a mate that got caught in Thailand.
He went to the house to meet the pretty girl (nurse) who was coming to NZ. however he was told to wait for her to come back from shopping.
there was a card game on and he was offered a way to make quick money. He was told they were going to trick a rich asian tourist into parting with their money by using signals from the dealer. my friend stupidly went along and it after winning lots of hands the ante went up to $5000 and he was asked to put up some collateral so they could bet high and win. Sadly to his horror he lost the hand and his money and jewelery.
He was the victum and not the rich asian tourist who was really in with them. they let you win till you believe you really cant loose.
So it seems the scam is to get you to their home and get your trust then scam you. You cant go to the police because you were told you were going to try and scam someone else and you went along with it.
