Having quietly read the postings on this forum for a few weeks prior to going to Bali, I feel compelled to post a brief JBR particularly to any other "NOT SURE ABOUT THIS HOLIDAY" people reading quietly also.
Whilst not going into a blow by blow account of our 2 weeks, we found a good driver in Tuban and saw all the usual temples, volcanoes, attractions, restaurants etc - usually every second day we had a trip somewhere with the other days filled in lazing and holidaying (ie drinking by the pool etc)
The shopping was good once we mastered the art and I must say we did quite well after that.
The food was good everywhere. We did not have a bad meal or service anywhere we went. We even ate with the locals at a ceremony/fair in Tanjung Benoa one night and no dramas.
We did take the rasberry juice, but hubby didn't drink any and I took to having mine with my duty free vodka in the afternoon!
The first day was a blow out, particularly for Hubby as he is so chatty that he is up for a to talk to anyone, but when that meant that we could not walk 3 feet without another Timeshare hawker giving us a card to tear open and want to cart you off for the rest of the day, he quickly learnt to shut up and say Tidak if they were too pushy.
In the second week we hired a motorbike with a little hesitation and must say that we were glad we gave it a go. We used it when we were down in the Nusa Dua / Tanjung Benoa area and only fairly locally, but made for a few nice little trips. We were told to pay minimum 5000 and maximum 10,000 rph if pulled over, but we weren't stopped once!
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone who is a little unsure as we had a ball. 10 out of 10 for this holiday and we cannot wait to go back again.
