a nut allergy. We spent 3 weeks in Bali last June & will be spending 4 weeks there this June. I, too, was concerned about things like nuts in food & satay spoons being used to dish up my daughter's meals, etc. We had absolutely no problems & we ate ate everything from dishes at little hole-in-the-wall warungs through to resort food & take away. there are loads of choices of nut-free foods everywhere in Bali. Peanut oil is no longer widely used for cooking.
We took the usual precautions- carrying antihistamine & 2 epi-pens (along with a letter from our doctor for the airlines - which we have never been asked to produce). We also armed ourselves with the following sentence - kindly provided by someone here on the forum:
"Annaku tidak bisa makan kacang karena nanti bisa masuk rumah sakit" which roughly translates to:
"My child will have to go to hospital if he/she eats any peanut product" - this was widely understood.
I hope this helps. Cheers, Sue.
