is now 14 but has surfed the reefs at Lembongan for the past 5 years. We live on a headland on the north coast and he surfs nearly every day. My husband went for every surf with him the first year but now he handles shipwrecks, Ulluwatu etc on his own (but with Mum's fingers crossed. The locals will keep an eye on him but it probably depends on your sons strength and paddling ability. If hes not that experienced I would suggest sticking to the beach breaks.
