between 13 & 15. Your boy if he surfs only at Bondi would not have surf a reef break. A big difference between sand & reef.I used to take a group of young surfers to Bali in The early 90s & they surfed Uluwatu nearly every day.Aged from 13 -15 yrs. Some of these kids are now on the circuit. Tom Witaker & Phil Maca & Trent Munro were just some of the kids. They all lost a bit of bark on the reefs but luckily nothing serious. If you find the right sandbank along Legion your boy will catch better waves than he will get at Bondi. High tide is always the best on the beach break. My son is a top surfer & he is working at Bondi as snr lifeguard during the winter. His Name is Aaron Graham (Aza)Go & have a chat with him & he will be only too glad to give you advice. He will be up in Bali in Oct for a wedding with a big crew From Bronte. He was on Bondi Rescue doing the towins at Tamarama last season.
