Have travelled with Bali bags to and from with the same outside zip pocket which can't be secured. Had no problems., The only thing with wrapping is that if they want to check your bag and they will especially on the way in. Then YOU have to unwrap it and that stuff takes a stanley knife to cut through so good luck if you go that way. You won't get much help from security. And you can't carry a knife with you - of course. As always be sensible and specific.
