Last year we made our kids (4 families - 6 teens) phone us when they left the hotel and when they arrived back. They could come and go as they wanted/needed but kept in touch via local sim card in their mobiles. Also we asked that they eat their dinner with us (or at the same restaurant) didn't always work but did most of the time.
