Seriously though, Ron is one of natures gentlemen, under that rough diamond exterior (one look at him will confirm that) the guy has a heart of gold.
Like so many other unsung hereos of the Island (Smudge and Helen etc...) he does so much for the local people. I know for a fact that he is solely responsible for the livelyhood of so many poor families in Bali particularly his beloved village of Sanur, with amongst other things funding the construction of several village fishing boats that support many extended families in the area, funding the building of a local warung which supports one lady and her family and several other projects that he would be too modest to mention himself (and will probably scold me next week when I visit by mentioning the ones that I have).
Not many know it but The Bintang Baron is also one of Bali's largest money lenders (he's not very good at it though, not only are his loans interest free but the principal loan almost always is never paid back either).
I guess in a way I too have been "spiked", by this one mans generosity and kindness to others less fortunate than himself and for that I will always sing his praises (no matter how rude he gets after one too many Bintangs)..... Cheers
