I really haven't done a comparison, but I find that shopping for those smaller things all in one place is easier than the markets (for me anyhow). Another consideration is, depending on how many of these things you want to buy, and providing you see what you want in the markets, you may be able to do a deal for buying in bulk.
I also agree with kasswaldo, Geneva is a great place to also get these and many other items and they are also fixed price.
My daughter and her friend are 1st timers to Bali and will be joining us over there. Matahari and Geneva will be our first shopping excursions to "get the lay of the land" and check out the prices.
