Our suitcases were marked with pink crosses last year and for good reason. We had taken quantities of folate, children's vitamins and homeopatic remedies for Gentle Birthing - Ubud. These were duely inspected and checked by a customs officer and his supervisor. The main concern was that these items were not for sale, but genuine donations. The supervisor thanked us for helping the people of Bali.
No fine, no bribe, no hassle, just a thorough checking of the content of our suitcases. Our only concern was that it took us an extra 15 minutes to get through customs. Oh, yes we were advised to obtain a letter of reference from the embassy in future. The custom officers wer just doing their job.
