very interesting topic. I believe that the media both print and television are to blame, Bali will never be able to recover nor Garuda with their Australian market until such time more positive information is published about Bali and promoted by larger travel agencies (other than Nicno who has that passion that we all share). We travelled 9/02 Qantas jumbo then they withdrew flights to Bali (obviously financial decision) to stop flying to Bali instead Australian Airlines (Qantas owned) took over smaller planes, less flights. So I do not know what I am missing but can see than Qantas also deserted its customers still wishing to travel to Bali (despite travel warnings) Yes Garuda is making a profit now but without the Aussie market which is not fair on Brisbane/Adelaide/New Zealand passengers or tourists that decide without plenty of notice to holiday in Bali. I have written in absolute disgust to the media both print and television about the negative publicity with regards to particular articles it will make no difference. Maybe I am incorrect in my thoughts and assumptions but there is a much bigger picture. thanks for your interesting read :)
