If you're talking about school holiday time, then don't wait or you will miss out. As far as I'm aware, July is all but booked out and most people who try can't get the dates they want. I'd be surprised if October wasn't close to the same situation by now. School holiday times always book out much faster than other times of the year.
As salty advised, at the very least, get your flights held ASAP.
