My first trip to Bali is now over - and the biggest lesson learnt was about transportation. First, there's the taxi's, if you get one thing from my post take this - only ever use the light blue taxi's called bluebird. They are friendly and honest and won't rip you off like the other guys who don't use a meter and charge about twice the price.
I also used a couple of drivers during my two week trip. One which was so expensive I will not even list. During the second week, I had the pleasure of meeting a new driver who picked us up to take us to our cruise to Lombongan Island. Wayan's service was included in the price of our cruise. He had an SVU that was air conditioned and he was the gentlest, sweetest, most honest man that we decided to use him again. He drove us around Kuta picking up our tailor made clothing and then over to Jimbaran Bay for dinner for the meagre price of RP 100,000 and when we asked him to pick us up and take us to the airport he told us it'd be chepaer to get a taxi, we hired him anyway for RP 40,000 due to the large number of bags we had. I would highly recommend Wayan to anyone looking for a happy, friendly driver at a cheap price, call him on 0818558160.
